Sharing time with our pack... It's always so hilarious!

We have 4 dogs in our less than 800 sq ft home. We also have a parrot. The antics of our household, while we also run a small retail shop (with art therapy in mind), are neverending. The personalities of this crew is beyond anything I could ever make up!

Oldest to youngest with a very brief bio to help you know who keeps our lives full of laughter and joy, as well as our hearts filled with love.

20ish y.o. Sparky. Yellow-collared mini macaw. We adopted him from a rescue around 2006. He was approximately 7 when he came to us. He had lived with a large parrot and was an elderly man's pal. He really likes male humans, most. He doesn't like most of the dogs. He likes Harley. He has the intelligence and behaviors of a two year old. He can be entertaining or annoying. He screams, screeches loudly, and BITES. Not vicious bites, but that's for another post. He also has funny conversations and interactions with the rest of the household.

Harley is a purebred pug, who was delivered at birth by us, 18 years ago. He seems to have a bit of dementia these days, as he has been prone to wander away (not far by any means, but farther than is his normal behavior), or forget where he is, or sleep very soundly. He's sweet, loveable, toothless, and Sparky loves to share his treats with Harley. They've been buddies forever, oddly enough.

Zeus is an American Pocket Bully. He's approximately 4-5 years old and is a rescue. These days we aren't sure who rescued whom, but he came to us three years ago, scabbed, dirty, terrified, and traumatized. Today, he's extremely bonded to me and I him. We were both in a bad way, emotionally, when we found each other. He makes me smile every single day. He's sweet and squishy, like a big, 60+lb marshmallow. Yet, he's afraid of his shadow, with a horrible startle response to ANYTHING from wind, to furniture being changed, to a spoon falling on the floor. He takes off from wherever he is, losing traction on our uncarpeted floors. He reminds us of Scooby Doo, trying to run from a non-ghost. He mostly sleeps on our bed during the day, has become a kinda spoiled princess (or KING, as Doug claims), by demanding certain things. More to follow, because there's so much, but he so deserves to be spoiled like no other after what it seems he'd been through in his prior life.

Trixie is approximately around two. She's a French bulldog/boxer mix, also called a French Bulloxer. She weighs approximately 50lbs of pure muscle and has the strength of a small pony. She was also rescued, but as a stray, during the beginning of 2020. She was super thin, scared, high strung and would bolt and ruuuunnnnnnn when she first came to us. Well, she still runs, but now does it as a game with Doug and only if she thinks she can get out the door before we notice (very rarely). She's grown to become Doug's main squeeze and Zeus's gal. She's the queen mum of the house, so she believes, but she's got a sweet, gentle, eager to please side about her. Her goal in life is to be a spoiled spunky doggy diva and chase cats or squirrels. She lays in the front window, overlooking our driveway and street, watching for cats, squirrels and Pappa, or our neighbor, Gary.

Gibby... Now Gibby is a very special boy who came to us in a special way just a few weeks ago. Gibby will be two in February. Funnyman is still settling into the family and finding his place among the pack. Gibby brings puppy energy and hilarious antics via 70lb English Bulldog. In fact, Gibby has tipped the scale on my decision to get this blog going. Gibby is very very intelligent, energetic, and seeking a forever home... Which he now has after 5 or 6 before us. Bulldogs are very stubborn dogs, and Gibby is no exception. English Bulldogs are NOT a good idea for inexperienced dog owners! And even with experience, as much fun and as cute n loving as they are, they can be a true challenge.

So, there's our animal pack! Join me on this journey with my feathered, furry, and beloved family! They ease our stress, comfort us, seek comfort from us, make us laugh, think, and love unconditionally!
